Pumpkin Seed Recipe

Well the kids couldn’t wait to carve their pumpkins so we did that today. It was a rainy day so it was a good day for it. Though I don’t know if it was too early to start carving pumpkins as there is a little less than 2 weeks before Halloween. I don’t want the pumpkins to rot before Halloween. The kids just couldn’t wait so we carved them today.
After the kids got the guts out of the pumpkins I thought I would take a shot at roasting the pumpkin seeds. I had done this before, but the last time I roasted the pumpkin seeds I just stuck them on a cookie sheet and put them in the oven. This time I thought I would try to flavor them with a little cinnamon and sugar.
First, I took the pumpkin seeds and rinsed them off under water to clean them off a bit. Then I melted some butter. I put the pumpkin seeds in a bowl and brushed the butter on the pumpkin seeds. Once they were covered a bit I sprinkled some cinnamon and sugar on them mixed them up until they were covered. Then I placed them on a cookie sheet and sprinkled a little more cinnamon and sugar on them for good luck. Then put them in a 350 degree oven for about 30 minutes. To be honest I don’t know how long it was, but I think it was about 30 minutes. I was cooking dinner at the same time so I just kept looking at them until I could see that they seem to be a little golden brown.
Well they came out pretty good I have to say. The kids liked them and they were fun and easy to make. I am sure there are many other pumpkin seed recipes out there. I wouldn’t mind trying something spicy like I found on Mixx News.

Pumpkin seeds are a great healthy snack and a delicious addition to salads. We should make sure the seeds are clean before we munch. When people takes out the seed from making the Halloween pumpkins we usually take the seeds and fried it out put some salt and it’s all ready to eat and it gives a good taste. To toast the seeds we should arrange them in an even layer on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes at 350 F, leave them in the oven and check every minute until done.
