Pumpkin Carving Stencils

Halloween Costumes
My kids keep talking about getting pumpkins so tomorrow we are actually going to Tony Andrews Farm to get our pumpkins. While we are there we will probably check out the Harvest of Horrors and walk through the Haunted House. We will do this during the day that is cause my kids are too young to walk through it at night. We did this last year and really liked it. They thought it was cool that they could walk through a Haunted House.

We won’t be carving our pumpkins tomorrow as Halloween is just still too far away, but we have been looking at some cool pumpkin carving stencils at Zombie Pumpkins. They have a lot of Great pumpkin carving stencils. Check them out!

Here is another way to decorate your pumpkin with no mess. I wanted to post this link as I think its a unique way to decorate your pumpkin and even change it up much like a Mr Potato Head. Check it out at Chicando!

In previous post about pumpkin carving I talked about how to carve a pumpkin, but I didn’t really give you any ideas on what to carve. I just wanted to share a place that I found that has some great pumkin carving stencils. Its called Ultimate Pumpkin Carving Patters. They have many pumpkin carving patterns from Mummy patterns to Werewolf patterns to Tranformer Patters to Shrek Pumpkin Carving patterns. One of the cool parts is that they actually give you the difficulty of each pattern. Just check them out at the link below.

Pumpkin Carving

SPOOKMASTER ONLINE PUMPKIN CARVING PATTERNS

One of the most favorite halloween activities to do is to carve your own pumpkin.  Everyone from adults and kids alike enjoy the halloween activity of carving your own pumkin.  It is a way to express yourself.

For pumpkin carving you need some essential tools.

1)  Your Hands

2) A nice spoon to be able to spoon the guts out of the pumpkin

3) A nice pumpkin carving tool

The first thing you need to do is get a pumpkin.  You can usually get these at your local produce shop.  I am sure you know where to get a pumpkin.

The next thing you need to do is to clear you kitchen table, or any other place that you plan to carve your pumpkin.  You need to clear this space as you will need some room to create :)

Once you have cleared your kitchen table off a good thing to do is to cover the entire table with newspaper because pumpkin carving is messy.  You might even want to put some newspaper on the floor.  The newspaper will make for easy clean up.

Ok now you need to get your pumpkin and sit it on the table in front of you. Now the first think you want to do is to clean out the guts of the pumpkin.  Now this is the messy part, but kids love this halloween activity.  In order to clean out the guts of a pumpkin you need a place to get into the pumpkin.  You could go through the side, but a better place to get into the pumpkin is from the top.  So you need to cut the top off.  Kids let the adults do this part.  Take a knife and stab the pumpkin a little away from the stem.  Now with a zig zag pattern go around the stem.  Once you have gone all the way round you want to take the top off.

Now comes the fun part. You want to take your hands and reach in the pumpkin with your hands you want to pull all the guts out of the pumkin.  Yes I know it sounds mean but pumpkins were made for this.  Just pull and scrape with that spoon you have until you got all the guts out.

Now you have an empty pumpkin. Now comes the creative part.  You want to carve your pumpkin anyway you would like.  Maybe with big eyes, scary eyes, a round nose, a smile mouth or a scary mouth or maybe even a surprised mouth.  What ever you would like to carve it is your choice.

Remember………..

The world is your pumpkin so start carving and have fun!!!!!
